Bethinking: Be ready to give an answer

We’ve all been there. You’re bombarded with a flurry of questions, each one more difficult than the last. And the more they ask, the more you realise you haven’t thought about half (or more!) of the things they’re asking about.

You try your best, but you feel like you’re barely keeping your head above water. You leave the conversation feeling deflated, and discouraged.

Sound familiar?

The apostle Peter gives us the solution: ‘Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have’ (1 Peter 3:15).

If that seems easier said than done, we want to help. Take a look around bethinking.org, UCCF’s apologetics website. Since 2004, we’ve been gathering some of the best resources available to help you think through common questions and prepare to demonstrate the truth, relevance and beauty of the gospel. On bethinking.org, we’ve got over 1,000 articles, talks and videos from some of the best writers, speakers and scholars.

But bethinking is about more than simply offering easy answers.

It’s about equipping you to think things through for yourself and develop a Christian world view that holds its own.

University is the perfect time to work out how your relationship with Jesus shapes every aspect of life: from the way you think, study and work to the way you watch films, listen to music or read a novel.

The gospel isn’t an intellectual statement or a position we assent to; it’s more like a pair of glasses through which we see the whole world. This is what CS Lewis meant when he wrote, ‘I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen, not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else’.

Through bethinking we want to equip you: not just to let this light flood into all areas of your life; but to open the curtains to help others see, and see by, this glorious sunrise.
