Jorge Capera

Jorge decided to start serving the CUs in Lancaster, Preston and Carlisle as a Staff Worker with UCCF after becoming more and more certain about the fact that God uses the evangelistic work of Christian students at university to start restoring the lives of their friends and classmates.

The work of a CU in Colombia – Jorge’s home-country – had enabled him to discover Jesus and enjoy His love when he was a teenager. Then, during his time at university in Liverpool, Jorge had seen how students became Christians or came to grow in their faith as a result of CU members and UCCF staff pointing them to Jesus through evangelistic events and one-to-one bible studies.

That is why, Jorge has become passionate about evangelism at university and has moved up north to support and encourage the evangelistic efforts of Christian students in Lancashire and Cumbria. After taking part in UCCF's graduate training programme (Relay) for a year, he is working now with the CUs of the University of Cumbria and the University of Central Lancashire and is supporting the international student ministry of Lancaster University’s CU.

Being passionate about people and cultures, Jorge does enjoy a good chat over coffee, his books and loves learning new things. He also likes dancing salsa and a good trek in the countryside.

Jorge says...

I probably will never stop being amazed at how God has used the evangelistic work of CUs to start restoring the lives of university students.

I became a Christian thanks to the work of a CU in Colombia, my home-country. Also, during my time as a student and as a Relay Worker with UCCF in Liverpool I saw many students becoming Christians or growing massively in their faith as they read the Bible or heard talks on how Jesus can bring hope to culturally sensitive issues.

That is why, I am super-duper excited to be able to serve the CUs in the Lancashire region as a Staff Worker with UCCF from August 2022. I’ll be supporting the CUs of the University of Cumbria and the University of Central Lancashire to engage their campuses with the gospel. Also, I’ll be helping with the international student ministry of Lancaster University.

I’ll be regularly travelling to Carlisle, Lancaster and Preston to support these CUs to share the gospel with their friends and classmates, so that more and more students get to taste the sweet goodness of the gospel and enjoy God’s love.

That is why, I personally want to invite you to partner with me in this project and support me in prayer and – if you can – financially. Both of these things are really important and will enable me to help the CUs in Lancashire with their evangelistic work.

I’m looking forward to hearing from you soon. :)
