Tom Piper

Tom is a native of Buckinghamshire twice over, having spent some intervening childhood years living in Germany. His childhood brought many happy memories as well as an appreciation for other cultures, although a disappointing lack of language skills!

Tom spent his University years in sunny Southampton. Coming to Uni as a pretty ordinary fresher, life's big questions were left on the back-burner in favour of a good time. It wasn't until he started becoming disillusioned with the false promises of Uni life in 2nd year, that Tom began to reconsider the Christian faith he'd rejected as a teenager.

A History course looking at the evidence of early Christianity coupled with finding a church that were really happy to point to the Bible for the answers he was looking for, led to the realisation that it wasn't God who was the one hiding. Tom was a sinner who wanted to live life his own way, but was shown the joy it is that Jesus offers himself with open arms to sinners like him!

After accidently falling into Christian ministry after Uni, Tom is excited to tell people of the amazing news that Jesus Christ is Lord. He is almost equally passionate about Queens Park Rangers FC, which has now become part of his personality. He can easily be found talking about or playing sport with zeal and mediocrity. He is married to the wonderful Becky. They enjoy walks together, internet memes and chatting about Jesus.

Tom says...

I think it's fair to say coming to university changed my life. I'm not the only one. Literally thousands of people begin their student journey every year, and that'll be just at one university! Universities across the country are filled with young people who are eager to learn, open to new ideas and wanting to discover meaning in life.

As a student I came to know Jesus because of the work of students and Christian leaders who showed him to me. Now I want to return the favour! I have the privilege of supporting the three university Christian Unions in Bath, helping them in their mission to give every student in Bath the opportunity to hear and respond to Jesus' gospel. I'm tremendously excited for this opportunity to see more people be welcomed into eternal life with Jesus, and grow confident in their faith.

Will you consider partnering with me in this work? First of all, I need your prayers. Secondly, I'm looking to cover my salary costs each year, around £24,000.

How it works is that I will be fundraising on behalf of UCCF, so all the money I raise will be benefitting the CUs! Your support will allow me to fund my role here and will make a huge difference in bringing people into Jesus' eternal kingdom.

Please do consider if you could support this work! Thank you.
