Pieter van den Broek
Pieter grew up in Surrey and then moved to Coventry to study maths and philosophy at the University of Warwick. Having not quite satisfied his itch to write, he then completed some postgraduate study in philosophy and English literature. During his time at university, he got drawn into the life of the CU there. This was a deeply formative time for him, as he met and learned from others seeking to share and put into practice the powerful proclamation that Jesus Christ is Lord.
Despite finding his time at CU so valuable, he turned down two consecutive offers of completing Relay (UCCF’s year helping CUs as a graduate) and moved back home instead. There he loved getting back involved in his home church, and worked as a landscape gardener. Two years later, he finally responded to the call to work with and alongside students - this time as a Staff Worker - an opportunity for which he is thoroughly grateful.
Pieter loves to read and is fascinated by languages, both modern and ancient. Growing up in a house of cooks, he is also very conversant in the language of food… Besides this, he has a love of all things that grow, a gift he received from his grandfather. Although Pieter is glad to be moving back to Coventry, he does wish that there were just a few more mountains!
