Jimmy Moncada
Jimmy is doing Relay in Stirling, supporting the Christian Union in the University of Stirling.
Relay is a ten-month discipleship, training and mission programme run by UCCF, a charity which aims to give every student in Great Britain an opportunity to hear and respond to the good news about Jesus Christ.
Relay Workers equip, resource and encourage student Christian Unions whilst being discipled and trained by a member of UCCF staff.
Jimmy says...
I’m so excited to be starting Relay in September, having recently completed my degree in Sport and Exercise Science at Leeds Beckett University. Over the past three years, being part of the Christian Union has been one of the biggest blessings of my university experience. It’s been a place of encouragement, spiritual growth, and genuine friendship, and I’m so thankful for the community God placed me in.
In my second and third year, I had the privilege of serving as CU treasurer. Being on the committee gave me the chance to develop practical skills such as organisation, communication, and teamwork, while learning to trust and rely more on God. It was challenging at times but incredibly rewarding to see how God worked through our weaknesses to build His kingdom on campus with all our course mates.
I’m really looking forward to Relay as it gives me time to continue growing in my relationship with Jesus and to serve students. I’m especially excited to help others see how the gospel can change every part of life.
One of my biggest passions is sport, and throughout university it’s been a brilliant way to build friendships and share the gospel naturally with teammates. I’ve loved seeing how God can use something as simple as a game or a training session to open the door to deeper conversations about faith.
I can’t wait to step into this next season with Relay and see how God will work through it!
Pray for Jimmy
Prayer is a vital part of supporting Jimmy’s work with Christian Unions. Here are some prayer points from Jimmy:
- Pray for encouragement, that I would stay motivated throughout my time in Stirling and be able to support the students while I’m there.
- Pray that we can have good conversations with students and that they would be open to hearing the good news of the gospel.
- Pray that I can make new friends!
