Tinaye Wakatama
Tinaye is doing Relay in Leeds, supporting the Christian Union in Leeds Beckett University.
Relay is a ten-month discipleship, training and mission programme run by UCCF, a charity which aims to give every student in Great Britain an opportunity to hear and respond to the good news about Jesus Christ.
Relay Workers equip, resource and encourage student Christian Unions whilst being discipled and trained by a member of UCCF staff.

Hello, I'm Tina, and I'll be doing Relay in Leeds, with Leeds Beckett Christian Union! I moved to the UK from Zimbabwe three years ago to study Creative Writing and Filmmaking at the University of Hull, and through a series of open and closed doors, I believe God’s gone before me to pave this path towards Relay.
These past few years have stretched and strengthened my faith, and as I’ve grown, I’ve found my gaze shifting upwards. I’ve found that I get the deepest satisfaction from doing things for the Kingdom - and what better way to serve the Kingdom than by dedicating a year to God on Relay.
Being part of the CU in Hull and having the opportunity to be on the committee in my second year taught me a lot. God brought me out of my comfort zone and taught me to trust in Him above all else. Receiving one-on-ones in particular - having someone encourage and invest in me - has shaped me in many ways. I’m excited to have the opportunity to be involved in the growth of other students, to pour out what has been - and will be - poured into me.
Because this programme is full-time, voluntary and self-funded, I would be so grateful if you would consider partnering with me through financial support, or prayer, or both! - Please pray that I develop deep, meaningful friendships, and that God uses me as iron to sharpen and encourage those He will place in my life.
- Please pray that, amidst everything, I don’t lose sight of who I’m doing this for, and why. That I don’t find myself relying on my own strength, but rather on the Holy Spirit.
- Please pray that God prepares the hearts of the students at Leeds Beckett. That all the seeds that are going to be thrown and sown in the coming year would land on fertile ground.
