Sam Haynes
Sam is doing Relay in Birmingham, supporting the Christian Unions in Aston University, the University of Birmingham and the University of Wolverhampton.
Relay is a ten-month discipleship, training and mission programme run by UCCF, a charity which aims to give every student in Great Britain an opportunity to hear and respond to the good news about Jesus Christ.
Relay Workers equip, resource and encourage student Christian Unions whilst being discipled and trained by a member of UCCF staff.
Sam says...
Hi! I'm Sam, and I'll be doing Relay in Birmingham this year! I'll mainly be based at the University of Birmingham but will also be working with Aston and Wolverhampton as well.
In my three years of being a student at UoB, God has truly grabbed hold of me and set a passion within me to see those around me to come to know Him. I absolutely love the vision of the CU, and have had the joy of serving God through the CU in a wide variety of ways. God never ceased to continue to amaze me with his power and his faithfulness to us as we went out to go and share the gospel with the rest of campus and I can't wait to see what He has in store for the upcoming year! I am so excited for this upcoming year, to have the opportunity to dedicate this year to serving God in campus mission is a real privilege. I am praying that my CU experience and passion for its vision will be something that I can use to encourage students as they continue to spread the gospel with campuses across Birmingham.
Due to the voluntary nature of the role, I am going to be completely reliant upon the generosity of others in terms of my living and ministry costs. - That God would help me to seek Him first, to trust Him in all things and that through the year I would come to know and love Him all the more.
- That I would adjust well to Relay life, finding new and healthy rhythms which help me to live well and be a blessing to others.
- That over the year, we would see God at work in the hearts of students across campuses, drawing them to Him and the life that He gives!
