Relay Workers equip, resource and encourage student Christian Unions whilst being discipled and trained by a member of UCCF staff.
Phoebe says...
University has revealed to me what it means for Christ’s power to be perfected in my weakness, both in my personal discipleship and in mission. I firmly believe that it is availability not ability that God works through and so I am excited to dedicate the next year to his ongoing work among students in Durham, many of whom have never heard the gospel, some who have never heard the name of Jesus.
Last year, I had the privilege of sharing the gospel specifically with international students and witnessing two of them coming to Christ. One thing that excites me most about Durham CU is our partnership with students from Teikyo university in Japan. 99% of people in Japan have never heard the gospel, but as a CU we the opportunity of meeting weekly with exchange students from Teikyo university to build friendships and share the gospel.
I am so excited to see what God is going to do in Durham uni this year, and I would love to be able to share stories with you of what happens through the year and would love for you to pray for me and the students. Relay is a voluntary position and therefore I am also looking for financial supporters to contribute towards my living costs, so that I can fully invest my time in this ministry. If you’re financially able to partner in student ministry and invest in my personal discipleship in this way, I would be very grateful.
Pray for Phoebe
Prayer is a vital part of supporting Phoebe’s work with Christian Unions. Here are some prayer points from Phoebe:
-
Housing - praise the Lord for the provision of housing for next year.
- Durham CU - please pray for the incoming exec and college reps as they prepare to welcome freshers. Would God be softening hearts for his gospel and bringing along Christian freshers who are ready and excited to share the good news of Jesus
- Friendships - some of my friends are leaving Durham this year. Please pray that I would be able to continue to invest in these friendships. and that I would continue to share the gospel with my non-Christian friends who are leaving Durham.
- Patience - the Lord has been revealing to me this year how slow I am to be patient. Please pray that I would be able to serve the Lord day by day without always looking to the future.
